For physicians and clinical teams

A practical referral option when menopause care is in place—but work is still harder

Balancia provides private, non-medical career and performance coaching for professional women navigating concentration, cognitive load, confidence, workplace communication, and career decisions during perimenopause and menopause.

A brief conversation with Charmaine Brown, PhD. No patient information or preparation required.

The role in the care pathway

Medical care and practical workday support serve different needs

A patient may receive appropriate evaluation, treatment, and clinical monitoring and still find that familiar professional demands require much more effort. A medical visit is not always the setting for rehearsing a manager conversation, preparing for a high-stakes presentation, rebuilding task systems, or thinking through a career decision.

The clinical team handles

  • Medical evaluation and diagnosis
  • Treatment recommendations
  • Medication decisions
  • Laboratory interpretation
  • Clinical monitoring
  • Mental-health or specialist referrals

Balancia may help with

  • Managing cognitive load and competing demands
  • Preparing for meetings and presentations
  • Building reliable task-capture and follow-through systems
  • Recovering after interruptions
  • Maintaining professional confidence
  • Preparing for workplace conversations
  • Thinking through role, workload, or career decisions

Balancia works alongside licensed care. It does not implement, interpret, or replace a clinician’s treatment plan.

Who may benefit

Consider sharing Balancia when the primary need is practical support for the professional impact

A patient may describe the experience in language like this:

I can still do my job, but it takes much more effort.
I lose words or my train of thought in meetings.
I do not trust my memory the way I used to.
I need practical ways to manage high-load workdays.
I am losing confidence even though I am still capable.
I need help deciding whether or how to seek workplace support.
I am considering reducing my hours, changing roles, or leaving because work has become harder.

No formal diagnosis or referral form is required. Balancia is most appropriate when acute medical, psychiatric, or safety needs are not the primary concern. Clients should remain connected to appropriate licensed care for medical or mental-health needs.

Clear scope boundaries

When Balancia is not the appropriate next step

Balancia is not medical care, psychotherapy, legal advice, or human-resources representation. When one of these concerns is primary, the appropriate next step is a qualified professional or emergency resource.

Balancia does not diagnose or treat menopause, cognitive disorders, mental-health conditions, or any other medical condition.

Refer elsewhere for

  • Diagnosis or treatment
  • A new, worsening, or unexplained medical concern
  • Suspected cognitive or neurological disease
  • Unmanaged psychiatric symptoms
  • Crisis or safety concerns
  • Medication or laboratory questions
  • Legal rights or eligibility for workplace accommodations

How referral works

A simple, patient-directed process

Share the resource

Give the patient a Balancia card or direct her to balancia.net/referred. No referral form or medical-record transfer is needed.

The patient chooses

She reviews the service privately and may schedule a free 30-minute discovery call to discuss the work-related concern and coaching fit.

Coaching stays in scope

If she continues, coaching focuses on a defined workplace or career goal. Out-of-scope concerns prompt a recommendation to contact an appropriate licensed professional.

Privacy is preserved

Balancia does not confirm participation or share coaching information with clinicians, employers, or other third parties without the client’s specific written consent.

  • Appropriate referral and refer-back criteria
  • The boundary between coaching and clinical care
  • How patients can contact Balancia without transferring medical information

Clinician FAQ

Common referral questions

Does a patient need a formal referral?

No. A clinician can give the patient a card or direct her to the patient referral page. The patient contacts Balancia herself.

Is Balancia medical care?

No. Balancia provides non-medical career and performance coaching. It does not diagnose, treat, prescribe, interpret laboratory results, or replace licensed care.

Will I receive updates about a patient?

Not automatically. Balancia does not confirm participation or disclose coaching information without the client’s specific written consent for that communication.

Is Balancia therapy?

No. Coaching does not provide psychotherapy, crisis support, diagnosis, or treatment for a mental-health condition.

Does Balancia advise patients about workplace accommodations?

Balancia may help a client organize questions and prepare for a workplace conversation. It does not determine legal rights, eligibility, or what an employer is required to provide.

Are there referral fees?

No. Balancia does not offer or accept payment for referrals.

Can our practice request patient cards?

Yes. Email charmaine@balancia.net to request printed materials or a digital referral link.
